– Neuropathology, neuroimmunology, cell transplantation
– Pathogenesis of myelin loss (e.g., matrix-metalloproteinases etc) and remyelination using viral models (canine distemper virus and Theiler´s murine encephalomyelitis virus) and toxic models (cuprizone feeding and ethidium bromide injection) as well as spontaneously occurring diseases such as spinal cord injury in dogs following disk herniation
– Canine oncology
– Virus discovery in dometstic, wild life and domestic animals
– Marine mammal research and C. burnetii infection
